Coffee cremino: a quick and easy dessert

Coffee cremino: the creamy recipe for summer

Coffee cremino is a recipe that is prepared throughout Italy, where it is also known by other names such as coffee cream and coffee mousse. Discover the recipe!

Fresh, tasty, delicate and velvety, this is one of the ways in which espresso - in a sweet form - manages to give its best in terms of emotions, creating a mousse that is pure poetry.

Coffee cremino can be presented in various ways, using small glass cups that show its layers, as well as in coloured coffee cups and ice cream bowls; the latter option emphasises its dessert-like nature.

It is perfect as a dessert, as well as for breakfast and even as a snack, proving to be a valuable addition when you have last-minute guests and need to improvise.

The basic ingredients

Let's take a look at the basic ingredients for coffee cremino, according to the standard recipe. The quantities are for 4 people:

● 50 g icing sugar;
● 50 ml coffee;
● 200 ml water;
● not an ingredient but an essential tool: to make coffee cremino, the recipe requires the use of an electric whisk;
to decorate: you can choose between cocoa powder, coffee beans, chocolate flakes, including white chocolate.

Cream can be used instead of water: a version that is currently preferred by many. However, not everyone wants/can consume milk, so the water-free solution should never be underestimated or “downgraded”, as it is very tasty.

The quantities are to be considered as a guide, as each person will develop their own preferences over time. This recipe also lends itself to different variations, as we will see below.

For those who love intense flavours, we recommend opting for creamy coffee beans, which are more natural and less processed than ground coffee. It also allows you to adjust the grind level to your preference.

Version with cream

The most delicious way to prepare coffee cream is to add fresh cream to the centre: this gives it a sweeter flavour. The procedure is as follows:

1. Prepare the coffee and leave it to cool.
2. Beat the cream with the icing sugar using a whisk until it forms peaks.
3. Add the coffee.
4. Mix again with the whisk.
5. Pour into your favourite container and decorate as desired.

Version without cream

This is the procedure for making coffee cremino without water, using the most widely accepted basic recipe:

1. First, put the water in the fridge or freezer so that it is as cold as possible. If you forget, 15 minutes in the freezer is sufficient.
2. Make some espresso coffee and leave it to cool.
3. Put the coffee in a bowl.
4. Add the sugar and finally the cold water.
5. Turn on the electric whisk and use it until you obtain a thick, frothy cream. This should take no more than 10 minutes.
6. Pour the coffee cream into your preferred container and decorate as desired.

As you can see, the procedure is quite simple in both versions. We can therefore say that it is always a good time to surprise your loved ones (and treat yourself) with a coffee cremino.
